Early Life and Learning
Frances Koncan was born in May 1986. Her birthplace is Couchiching First Nation.
She studied at the University of Manitoba, where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology. Later, she went to Brooklyn College in New York. There, she earned a master's degree in fine arts, focusing on playwriting.
Her Career in Theatre and Writing
Frances Koncan is a busy person! She is currently an assistant professor at the University of British Columbia. She teaches creative writing there.
She has written several plays. Some of her well-known plays include Women of the Fur Trade and zahgidiwin/love. She also wrote Flesh-Coloured Crayons and Space Girl.
Frances has also worked as an assistant director for many plays. These include Seminar, The Humans, and A Doll's House, Part 2. She also helped direct Stripped Down Anthony & Cleopatra. She even co-directed a play called The Hollow.
