Francesco Morini (born August 12, 1944 – died August 31, 2021) was an Italian professional football player. He played as a defender. He was part of the Italian national team and played in the 1974 FIFA World Cup. He played a total of 11 games for his country.
Morini played for famous clubs like Sampdoria and, most notably, Juventus. He was very successful with Juventus. People called him "Morgan the Pirate" because he was so good at winning the ball. He was known for being a strong central defender who was great at tackling. Even though he played with a lot of power, he was also known for being fair on the field. He rarely made rough tackles. After he stopped playing, he worked for Juventus as a sports manager for many years.
Club Career

Francesco Morini started his professional career with Sampdoria. He played his first top-league game, called Serie A, on February 2, 1964. In 1969, he moved to Juventus, one of Italy's biggest clubs.
With Juventus, Morini had a very successful time. He helped the team win five Serie A titles. Serie A is the highest football league in Italy. He also won the Coppa Italia (Italian Cup) in the 1978–79 season. In European competitions, he won the UEFA Cup in 1977. He also reached the final of the European Cup in 1973. This is a very important competition for European clubs.
During his entire career as a defender, Morini never scored a goal in official matches. This is quite unusual for a player who played so many games. He finished his playing career in Canada with the Toronto Blizzard.
International Career
Morini played his first game for the Italian national team on February 25, 1973, in a match against Turkey. He was chosen to be part of the Italian team for the 1974 FIFA World Cup. This is a huge tournament where countries from all over the world compete.
He played a total of 11 games for Italy between 1973 and 1975. Even though he was still playing well in the mid-1970s, he was not picked for the Italian squad that finished fourth in the 1978 FIFA World Cup.
Personal Life
Francesco Morini had two sons. One of them is Jacopo Morini, who is known for being on an Italian TV show called "Le Iene". His other son, Andrea, is a singer and plays guitar in a band.
