Francis "Frank" McNulty was an important American pioneer. He was also a member of the Kansas Legislature in 1875. Frank was one of five brothers who came from Canada. They were the first people to settle in Rooks County, Kansas, in January 1871.

The First Settlers of Rooks County

In January 1871, the McNulty brothers arrived in Rooks County, Kansas. They were the very first people to settle there. They worked hard to build a new life. In February 1871, the brothers built the first house in Stockton Township. Today, this area is known as Stockton, Kansas. This house was also the first lodging place in all of Rooks County.

A Voice for Rooks County

Frank McNulty was chosen to represent Rooks County. In November 1874, he was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives. This is a group of people who make laws for the state. Frank served a term in this important role. He was present for the House's fifteenth yearly meeting. This session started on January 12, 1875. As a representative, Frank helped make decisions for the people of Rooks County.

The First Child of Rooks County

The McNulty family also celebrated a special event. The very first child born in Rooks County was a girl named Myrtle Maud McNulty. She was born to Thomas McNulty and his wife Mary Dillon. Myrtle was born on Christmas evening in 1871. This was a happy moment for the new settlement.
