Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Francisco Llácer Pla (born in Valencia, Spain, in 1918, and passed away there in 2002) was a Spanish composer and a conductor for choirs. He was one of the first composers from Valencia to use new, modern music styles after the war. He mixed these new ideas with beautiful, emotional melodies and sounds from Valencian folk music. Tomás Marco, another famous musician, said that Llácer Pla gave a fresh and exciting view of Spanish music.

He taught at the Valencia Conservatory, a music school. His unique ideas about harmony, which is how different musical notes sound good together, were important in his music. He developed his own theories, like "heptafonism" and the "balanced chord." These ideas explored how sounds resonate and fit together in a special way.

On October 7, 2005, the city of Valencia honored him by naming him its "favorite son." This is a special title given to people who have contributed a lot to their city.
