Franco Rossi (born April 19, 1919, in Florence, Italy – died June 5, 2000, in Rome) was a talented Italian film screenwriter and director. He is best known for directing the long TV mini-series Quo Vadis? in 1985, which was a big international project.

Franco Rossi was born in Florence, a beautiful city in Italy. He first studied law, but his passion led him to work in theater. He started his career in movies by helping other directors.
Rossi directed his first movie, a crime thriller called I Falsari. He became well-known after directing Il seduttore, a film starring the famous Italian actor Alberto Sordi. Some of his other notable movies include The Woman in the Painting (also known as Amici per la pelle, 1955), Odissea Nuda (1961), Three Nights of Love (1964), and a part of the film Le bambole (1965). He also directed Porgi l'altra guancia in 1974, which starred Bud Spencer.
Franco Rossi was one of the first Italian film directors to also work on television. He was one of the directors for the 1968 TV mini-series L'Odissea, which was a big success. His biggest TV project was directing the six-hour mini-series Quo Vadis? in 1985. This show was made with help from different countries.
