Frank Odin (born March 24, 1863 – died June 7, 1899) was a brave and skilled steamship captain. He was the very first captain of a special boat called the Charlotte. This sternwheeler boat traveled on the upper Fraser River in British Columbia from 1896 to 1910. Sadly, the Charlotte later sank after hitting a rock in the Fort George Canyon.

Frank Odin's Story

Frank Odin was born in a place called Point Roberts. In 1896, he became the captain of the Charlotte. This boat was built and launched in Quesnel in August of that year. Frank Odin was very well-known and respected by everyone who worked on the river. He was a great pilot!

Captain Odin guided the Charlotte for three years. Sadly, he passed away suddenly from a heart attack while he was steering the boat. He was only 35 years old. You can still visit his grave today at the Soda Creek Cemetery.
