Frank Evans Ray (born April 28, 1909 – died August 6, 1963) was an American baseball player. He played as an outfielder in the Negro Leagues during the 1930s.

Frank Ray was born in Athens, Georgia. This city is located in the southeastern part of the United States. As a young man, he attended Morris Brown College. This college is a historically Black college in Atlanta, Georgia.

Playing in the Negro Leagues

During Frank Ray's time, many talented Black baseball players could not play in the major leagues. This was due to unfair rules that kept them out. Because of this, they created their own professional baseball teams and leagues. These were known as the Negro Leagues. These leagues were very important. They gave Black athletes a chance to show their amazing skills.

His Baseball Career

Frank Ray played for a team called the Montgomery Grey Sox. He joined them in 1932. The Montgomery Grey Sox were a team from Montgomery, Alabama. In the games where his stats were recorded, Frank Ray played 26 times. He managed to get 16 hits. He had 95 chances to bat or get on base. Even though his career was short, he was part of an important time in baseball history.

Later Life

Frank Ray passed away in Tuskegee, Alabama in 1963. He was 54 years old at the time of his death. His life was a part of the rich history of the Negro Leagues.
