A Composer's Career

It was in Salzburg that Franz Sparry began his career as a composer. He wrote many musical pieces. His most famous work is a type of music called Tafelmusik. This means "table music" and was often played during meals or gatherings.

From 1747, Sparry became the director of music at Kremsmünster Abbey. This meant he was in charge of all the music there. He continued to compose and lead music until his death. Franz Sparry passed away in Kremsmünster in 1767.
