Fred Carter (born June 22, 1938 – died May 9, 2022) was an American artist. He was famous for drawing pictures in comic books. He mostly worked on small story booklets called "tracts" for a publisher named Jack Chick. These booklets often shared stories from the Bible.

Early Life and Learning

Fred Carter went to art school in the big city of Chicago. He studied at the American Academy of Art. This is where he learned many of his drawing skills.

His Art and Work

Carter's art was special because he used lots of detailed shading. This made his drawings look very rich and deep.

He started working for Chick Publications in 1972. For a while, people didn't know he was the artist. He worked without his name being shown. But in 1980, Jack Chick finally told everyone about Carter's amazing work. He did this in his newsletter called Battle Cry.

Later, Fred Carter and Jack Chick worked together on a film. It was made in 2001 and was called The Light of the World. For this film, Carter created beautiful oil paintings. These paintings helped tell stories from the Bible.
