Free! Iwatobi Swim Club is a Japanese anime series. It is all about swimming and friendship. The show follows a group of boys who love to swim.

The Story of the Iwatobi Swim Club

The main story of Free! is about four boys who were once on a swim team together. They were friends in elementary and middle school. After middle school, they went to different high schools.

Two of the boys, Haruka Nanase and Makoto Tachibana, ended up at Iwatobi High School. They were happy to be together again. Soon, another friend from their old swim team, Nagisa Hazuki, also joined Iwatobi High.

They were excited to be reunited with two of their childhood friends. But one person was still missing. This was Rin Matsuoka, the fourth member of their old swim team. Rin had been studying in Australia. He recently came back to Japan. He was now going to Samezuka Academy.

Haruka, Makoto, and Nagisa soon met Rin's younger sister, Gou Matsuoka. She told them where Rin was and what his goals were. The boys decided they wanted to see Rin again. They came up with a plan to start their own swim club. This way, they could compete and meet Rin.

Gou became the manager of the new Iwatobi Swim Club. Makoto was chosen as the captain. The club needed one more thing to be complete: a fourth member. The boys tried to find someone new. They put up advertisements everywhere. But no one seemed interested in joining.

Then, one day, Nagisa found a first-year student. This student had something in common with Nagisa, Haruka, and Makoto. He also had a name that sounded a bit like a girl's name. This student was a perfect fit for their team.
