French Executive Commission (1848) facts for kids
The Executive Commission of 1848 was a special group that acted as the government for a short time in France. This happened during a period known as the French Second Republic.
This group was led by a person named François Arago. They were in charge for just over a month and a half, from May 9, 1848, to June 24, 1848.
Before the Executive Commission, there was another temporary government called the Provisional Government. After the Executive Commission, a new leader, General Louis-Eugène Cavaignac, took over. The people in the Commission worked together as the country's main leaders, sharing the role of 'head of state'.
