His Popular Writings
Schulze wrote many books. His very first novel was called Der Mann, auf Freiersfüssen (which means 'The Man on Suitor's Feet'). It came out in 1801 and was liked by many readers.
The Book of Ghosts
One of his most famous projects was editing a collection of ghost stories. This book was called Gespensterbuch, or 'Book of Ghosts'. He worked on it with another writer, August Apel. The book was published in several parts between 1810 and 1815.
The 'Book of Ghosts' was very popular. It helped make ghost stories a big hit in Germany. People loved reading these spooky tales.
Stories Translated into English
A famous English writer named Thomas de Quincey translated some of Laun's stories. De Quincey said that Laun's stories were very popular. He also thought they were full of "Fun," meaning they were entertaining and enjoyable.
