Fulk le Strange, 1st Baron Strange of Blackmere (died January 23, 1324) was an important English noble. He was known for fighting in wars in Gascony (a region in France) and Scotland. He also signed a special letter from English nobles to the Pope in 1301.

Who Was Fulk le Strange?

Fulk was a younger son of Robert le Strange. His mother was Eleanor de Blanchmunster. In 1289, his older brother John passed away. Fulk then inherited family lands in places like Wrockwardine and Ellesmere in Shropshire, England.

In 1294, Fulk joined a military campaign in Gascony. Later, starting in 1298, he fought in several battles during the Scottish Wars of Independence. These wars happened when King Edward I and King Edward II ruled England.

Fulk became a Baron, which is a type of noble title. He was called to attend Parliament in 1308 and 1309. This meant he was known as Baron Strange of Blackmere. In 1322, he was given an important job. He became the Seneschal of Gascony, which was like being a governor or chief officer for that region. Fulk died in January 1324. His son, John, took over his titles and lands.
