The History of Gálvez City
Gálvez started as a farming community called Colonia Margarita. This land belonged to José Gálvez, who was the governor of the province at that time. He rented out his land for farming. Many Italian immigrants from places like Piamonte and Lombardia came to farm here.
The official founding date for Gálvez is October 15, 1886. This date marks when the train station opened. Many towns in Santa Fe were founded this way, around the opening of a train station. The local government was officially set up on January 12, 1887. Gálvez became a full city on March 19, 1939. The city was renamed Gálvez on June 6, 1889, in honor of Governor Gálvez.
