Gérard Majax facts for kids
Gérard Faier, known as Gérard Majax (born April 28, 1943), is a famous French illusionist. An illusionist is someone who performs magic tricks to entertain people. He has appeared on many TV shows, showing off his amazing magic skills.
Who is Gérard Majax?
Gérard Majax is well-known for his many appearances on television. He often showed off incredible magic tricks. He also used his skills to explain how some "supernatural" events might just be clever tricks.
From 1987 to 2002, he helped with something called the International Zetetic Challenge. This challenge offered a prize to anyone who could prove they had real supernatural powers. Majax and his team were skeptics. This means they looked for scientific explanations for things that seemed impossible.
Exposing the "Rotating Table" Trick
One famous time, Majax showed how a "supernatural" event was actually a trick. On a late-night TV show, a group of people put their hands on a round table. The table then seemed to float up and spin around all by itself. Many people thought it was magic or a ghost!
But Majax knew better. He watched a video of the event very closely. He saw that some people had small metal hooks hidden in their jacket sleeves. When they put their hands on the table, they secretly used these hooks. They "pinched" the table from underneath, allowing them to lift it and make it spin. Majax showed that what looked like a mystery was just a clever trick.
His Inventions
In 2000, Gérard Majax created something cool called The Hallucinoscope. This is a special system that makes you feel like you are walking above the ground. It works without any electronics. It creates an amazing visual trick that makes your brain think you are floating!
