Gabi Calleja is a gay rights activist in Malta. In 2012, she received the International Women of Courage Award from the U.S. State Department.


Calleja studied Youth and Community Studies in a master's degree program at the University of Malta.


In 2010, Calleja became head of the Malta Gay Rights Movement. In 2014, she became co-chair of the Executive Board of ILGA Europe, a lesbian and gay group that works for human rights. In 2014 she worked for changes in Danish law.

Calleja also works with teaching, drug education, community development, and fundraising. In 2005, she helped write the “School Attendance Improvement” Report.
