Gaiety Theatre (Boston, 1878) facts for kids
The Gaiety Theatre was a cool place for shows in Boston, Massachusetts. It was open from 1878 to 1882. You could find it on Washington Street, between West and Avery Streets. A person named J. Wentworth was in charge of running the theatre.
Before it was the Gaiety, the building was known as the Melodeon. The Gaiety Theatre had a large room for audiences, with about 800 seats. Imagine walking in and seeing walls and ceilings decorated in pink, with touches of buff, gold, and purple! The front of the balconies also had bronze, gray, and pink colors. In 1882, the theatre changed its name and became the Bijou Theatre.
