Garci Sánchez de Badajoz facts for kids
Garci Sánchez de Badajoz (born around 1460, died around 1526) was a Spanish writer and poet. He was famous for writing poems about love. These poems were very popular with other poets during the Renaissance period.
His family came from a noble background in Badajoz, a city in Spain. In the 1400s, his family moved to Écija.
His Life and Works
Many of Garci Sánchez de Badajoz's poems are found in a famous book called The General Songbook. This book was published in 1511. Other poems were discovered on separate papers or in another collection called the Romance Songbook.
A writer named Fray Jerónimo Román said that Garci Sánchez de Badajoz was also a talented musician. He played the vihuela, which was an old stringed instrument similar to a guitar.
