Garcia is a small town, also called a municipality, in Spain. It's located in a region called Catalonia. This town is special because it sits on both sides of the Ebre river. It's part of an area known as Ribera d'Ebre.
A Look at Garcia's History
People have lived in Garcia for a very long time. We know this because of discoveries from ancient Iberian times.
In 1153, the area was taken back from the Moors by Count Ramon Berenguer IV of Barcelona. During the Middle Ages, Garcia was part of a special area called the Barony of Entença.
A document from 1156 shows that Ramon Berenguer IV gave the land to the Poblet Monastery. This meant Garcia was connected to the nearby town of El Molar. This connection lasted until the 1800s.
How People Make a Living
For a long time, farming has been the main way people in Garcia earn money.
Farmers grow vegetables and fruit trees in areas where the land can be watered. In other areas, where there isn't much water, they grow grapevines, hazelnuts, and olives. People also raise pigs and chickens here.
