Garland's History
The town of Garland was named after Dr. John Crawley Garland (1832-1884). He was a doctor who worked in the area.

Law enforcement in Garland is handled by several groups. These include the Tipton County Sheriff's Office, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and the Tipton County Constable's Office. They all work to keep the town safe.
Fire and Medical Help
Since 1985, Garland has had its own volunteer fire department. It's called the Garland Volunteer Fire Department. They have five fire trucks and other equipment. Their station, Station 21, is located at the corner of Garland-Detroit Road and Garland Drive. The current Fire Chief is Chief Wayne Wolfe. The department helps with both fires and medical emergencies.
