Geir Botnen is a talented Norwegian pianist. He was born on February 27, 1959, in a place called Kvam. Geir Botnen is especially known for playing the music of a composer named Geirr Tveitt. However, he also performs many other beautiful pieces by different composers.

Becoming a Musician

Geir Botnen studied music for five years at the Bergen Music Conservatory. His teacher was a famous professor named Jiri Hlinka. During his studies, Geir showed amazing skill. Because of his talent, he was asked to play with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. This is a very important orchestra in Norway.

Early Achievements

In 1982, Geir Botnen made history. He became the first Norwegian pianist ever to compete in the Tchaikovsky Competition. This competition is a very big and famous music event held in Moscow.
