Genki Nakayama (中山 元気, Nakayama Genki, born September 15, 1981) is a Japanese football player. He played as a forward during his career. After retiring as a player, he became a football manager. He is currently the manager of Renofa Yamaguchi, a club in Japan's J2 League.

Genki Nakayama's Football Journey
Genki Nakayama was born in Shimonoseki, Japan, on September 15, 1981. He loved football from a young age. After finishing high school, he joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima in 2000. This team played in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league.
Early Career at Sanfrecce Hiroshima
In his first few years, Genki did not play much for Sanfrecce Hiroshima. By 2003, the club moved down to the J2 League. This is the second-highest league in Japan. In the summer of 2003, Genki started playing more often. He became a regular player for the team. Thanks to their hard work, Sanfrecce Hiroshima was promoted back to the J1 League in 2004. However, Genki did not get to play many games that year.
Moving to Consadole Sapporo
In 2005, Genki moved to Consadole Sapporo, a team in the J2 League. He became a regular player for them in 2006. In 2007, he played even more games. That year, Consadole Sapporo won the J2 League championship. This meant they were promoted to the J1 League for the 2008 season. Genki played many matches as a regular player in 2008. But unfortunately, the team was relegated back to J2 after just one year. In 2009, Genki played less often. He often came into games as a substitute forward.
Final Playing Years
In 2010, Genki joined Shonan Bellmare. This team had just been promoted to the J1 League. However, Genki faced an injury in May and could hardly play. In 2011, he moved to Renofa Yamaguchi. This club was in the Japanese Regional Leagues, which are lower divisions. Renofa Yamaguchi is based in his home prefecture, Yamaguchi. Genki played for Renofa Yamaguchi until the end of the 2012 season. After that, he retired from playing professional football.
Becoming a Manager
After retiring as a player, Genki Nakayama started a new chapter in his football career. He became a manager. In 2013, he managed Renofa Yamaguchi FC. He returned to manage Renofa Yamaguchi FC again in 2025. He is currently leading the team in the J2 League.
