Genki Nakayama (中山 元気, Nakayama Genki, born September 15, 1981) is a former Japanese football player. He used to play as a forward, which means he was a player who focused on scoring goals. After he stopped playing, he became a coach. He is currently an assistant coach for J2 League club Renofa Yamaguchi.

Genki Nakayama's Playing Career
Genki Nakayama was born in Shimonoseki, Japan, on September 15, 1981. After finishing high school, he joined a top-tier Japanese football club, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, in the year 2000.
Early Years at Sanfrecce Hiroshima
For his first few years, until 2002, Genki Nakayama did not play many games. In 2003, his team, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, was moved down to the J2 League, which is the second division. That summer, he started playing more often and became a regular player. His team then moved back up to the J1 League in 2004. However, he didn't get to play much in 2004.
Moving to Consadole Sapporo
In 2005, Genki Nakayama moved to Consadole Sapporo, another team in the J2 League. He became a regular player for them in 2006. In 2007, he played even more often. That year, Consadole Sapporo won the J2 League championship. This meant they were promoted to the J1 League for the 2008 season.
Time in J1 and J2 Leagues
Genki Nakayama played many games as a regular player in the J1 League during 2008. But unfortunately, his team was moved back down to the J2 League after just one year. In 2009, he didn't play as much and often came into games as a substitute forward.
Later Career and Retirement
In 2010, he joined Shonan Bellmare, a team that had just been promoted to the J1 League. However, he had an injury in May and could hardly play any games. In 2011, Genki Nakayama moved to Renofa Yamaguchi, a club in the Japanese Regional Leagues. This team was based in his home area, Yamaguchi Prefecture. He played for Renofa Yamaguchi until the end of the 2012 season, when he decided to retire from playing football.
