A Career in Politics

George Evans became a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Irish House of Commons. An MP is a person elected to represent an area in the government. The Irish House of Commons was like a parliament for Ireland.

  • In 1692, he was first elected as an MP for County Limerick.
  • From 1695 to 1699, he represented Askeaton.
  • He then represented Charleville from 1703 to 1713.

His Family Life

In 1679, George Evans married Mary Eyre. They had a large family together, with three sons and seven daughters.

When George Evans passed away in 1720, his eldest son, also named George Evans, took his place. His son had already been given a special title in 1715. He was made a peer, which meant he became a nobleman with the title Baron Carbery.
