George Mullins was an Irish landscape painter. He was active around 1763 to 1765. He was known for creating beautiful paintings of nature.
The Life of George Mullins
George Mullins started his art training in 1756. He went to the Dublin Society's Drawing School. This was a special art school in Dublin, Ireland. His teacher was James Mannin.
Mullins first worked in a city called Waterford. There, he painted designs on trays and lids for decorative boxes. Later, he became quite good at painting landscapes. He moved to London and showed his art in important exhibitions. These shows were held at the Royal Academy from 1770 to 1775.
A rich nobleman, Lord Charlemont, hired Mullins. He wanted Mullins to paint decorative pictures for his large home, the Marino estate. George Mullins also painted signs for shops. He even taught a young artist named Thomas Roberts. Thomas Roberts later became a very famous Irish landscape painter himself.
Family Life
George Mullins married a young woman. She ran a popular inn near Temple Bar called the Horseshoe and Magpye. We do not know the exact year George Mullins passed away.
