George Parker was born around 1619. He was the oldest son of Sir Thomas Parker. His family owned a lot of land in Ratton, Sussex, England. His mother was Philadelphia Lennard.

When he was 18, in 1637, George went to St Alban's Hall, Oxford university. After university, he studied law at Lincoln's Inn in 1638. This training helped prepare him for a life in public service.

Stepping into Politics

George Parker became involved in politics during a busy time in English history. In 1659, he was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for Seaford. He served in the Third Protectorate Parliament. This was a special parliament that met during a period when England was not ruled by a king.

Serving in Parliament

In April 1660, George Parker was elected MP for Seaford again. This time, he served in the Convention Parliament. This parliament was very important because it helped bring the king back to power in England. As an MP, Parker helped make new laws and decisions for the country.
