Germaine Kamayirese is a talented engineer and a leader in Rwanda. She has held important roles in the Rwandan government. From October 2018 to February 2020, she was the Minister of Emergency Management and Refugee Affairs. This means she helped people during emergencies and supported refugees.

About Germaine Kamayirese
Early Life and Education
Germaine Kamayirese was born in Nyarugenge District, Rwanda, on August 5, 1981. She loved learning and went to the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) from 2000 to 2005. KIST is now part of the University of Rwanda.
In 2005, she earned a degree in Electricalmechanical Engineering from KIST. She continued her studies and, in 2010, received a Master's degree in Communications Management. She earned this degree from KIST and Coventry University in the United Kingdom.
Her Career Journey
Germaine Kamayirese has had a busy and important career. From 2008 to 2011, she worked as a network specialist at the "Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Agency" (RURA). She helped make sure communication networks worked well.
Later, from 2012 to 2014, she was a network specialist at "Tigo-Rwanda," a telecommunications company. She also advised the "Institute of Engineering Architecture Rwanda" from 2010 to 2011. She is also a member of the "Rwanda Women Engineers Association" (RWEA).
Leading in Infrastructure
As the Minister of State for Infrastructure, Germaine Kamayirese had big responsibilities. She was in charge of Rwanda's plans for producing, sending, and distributing electricity. This included working with other countries on energy.
She also made sure that people across Rwanda had access to clean, safe, and reliable water. She worked on improving sanitation services too.
New Role in Emergency Management
In October 2018, Germaine Kamayirese took on a new challenge. She became the Minister of Emergency Management and Refugee Affairs. This role meant she was responsible for helping people during disasters and supporting those who had to leave their homes. She held this position until February 2020.

Recognitions and Achievements
In December 2014, a famous magazine called Forbes Magazine recognized her talent. They named her one of "The 20 Youngest Power Women In Africa 2014." This showed how much impact she was already making at a young age.
