Novels with Strong Characters

Their first novel was Time's Wallet (1913). It tells the story through letters between women who graduated from Somerville College. They were working in the East End of London. One character even broke off her engagement. She did this because she wanted to keep thinking for herself.

Their second novel was Merely Players (1917). This book followed an unusual playwright. It showed her marriage breaking up. The main characters in both these novels were very independent women. They were not afraid to make their own choices.
