Her Family Life
In 1533, Gertrude Tyrrell married William Petre. He was an important person who lived at Ingatestone Hall in Essex. Gertrude and William had two daughters together:
- Dorothy Petre (born 1534, died 1618). She later married a man named Nicholas Wadham.
- Elizabeth Petre. Her godmother was Jane Wriothesley, the wife of a powerful nobleman named Thomas Wriothesley, 1st Earl of Southampton. Elizabeth later married John Gostwick.
After Gertrude's death in 1541, William Petre married again. His second wife was Anne Browne.
