About Gesine Spieß
Gesine Spieß was born in Glöwen, a town in Plattenburg, on January 10, 1945. She went to the University of Düsseldorf to study education. In 1982, she earned her doctorate degree. This is a very high academic qualification. Her studies were guided by Gudula List, an expert in how people think and learn.
Spieß taught at the University of Düsseldorf for some time. She also worked as a research assistant for the German Research Foundation. In 1994, she became a professor at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences. Here, she taught and researched gender studies. After she retired in 2011, she continued to give many talks. These talks were often about gender issues, including how gender affects politics.
Working for Equality
Gesine Spieß was a leader in making things fair for everyone in German cities. She first worked as a women's representative in Solingen. Later, in 1988, she moved to Düsseldorf. There, she helped build the city's women's office. She made it a strong and respected group that made a real difference.
From 1986 to 1989, she was the spokesperson for a national group. This group brought together women's representatives from different cities.
Women's Trade Fair
Spieß also helped start a special event called the women's trade fair. She worked with Messe Düsseldorf to create this fair in 1991. Women in Leadership
