Ghasem Rezaei (born August 18, 1985) is a famous Iranian former Greco-Roman wrestler. He is known for winning both a gold and a bronze medal at the Olympics. He also became an Asian Champion twice! People sometimes call him the "Tiger of Amol."

Ghasem Rezaei's Wrestling Journey
Ghasem Rezaei started his international wrestling career in 2007. His first big success was winning a bronze medal at the 2007 World Wrestling Championships. He also won gold medals at the 2007 Asian Wrestling Championships and the 2008 Asian Wrestling Championships.
Challenges and Comebacks
After his early success, Ghasem faced some tough times. He competed in the 2008 Olympics but lost early in the first round. In 2009, he couldn't compete at all because of an injury.
In 2011, at the Greco-Roman World Championship, Ghasem was scheduled to wrestle against Robert Avanesyan. However, Ghasem did not show up for the match. This meant he lost by forfeit and was out of the tournament.
Olympic Glory in London
Even with these challenges, Ghasem worked hard to get back to the top. In 2012, he earned a spot for his country at the Olympics. He went on to win the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics in London!
In the final match, he defeated Rustam Totrov. On his way to the gold, he also beat Cenk Ildem, Artur Aleksanyan, and Yunior Estrada. It was an amazing victory for him and his country.
More Medals and Achievements
After his Olympic gold, Ghasem continued to achieve great things. In 2015, he won a gold medal at the Pytlasinski tournament in Poland. Later that year, he earned a silver medal at the 2015 World Championship. He reached the final by beating Elis Guri, but then lost to Artur Aleksanyan, earning the silver.
Ghasem Rezaei also won a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. In his final Olympic match, he faced Carl Fredrik Schön. Even though Schön started with a lead, Ghasem fought back bravely. He scored points to tie the match and won based on the rules, securing his bronze medal.
