Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Ghost Trackers (also known as GTK) was an exciting reality show made just for kids! It was created by Chris Gudgeon and first shown on HBO. Later, you could watch it on Discovery Kids Canada and YTV. The show ran for four seasons, with thirteen episodes in each season, from 2005 to 2008.

What is Ghost Trackers About?

This show was all about adventure and mystery! It featured kids who were in middle school, competing to become the "top tracker." They would explore places that people thought were haunted.

How Did They Track Ghosts?

The young contestants used special "ghost tracking technology." This equipment helped them look for signs of paranormal activity. Hidden cameras recorded everything they did.

What Did the Technology Do?

The tools they used could measure small changes. For example, they checked for shifts in temperature. They also looked for changes in electromagnetic fields. These changes were thought to be signs of ghosts.

The Competition and Host

Other contestants watched and scored each tracker's performance. The show's host, Joe MacLeod, would tell spooky stories about the haunted locations. Sound effects and eerie music made the stories even more exciting!

How Did the Competition Work?

The competition was set up like a tournament. Contestants were eliminated as the show went on. However, some "wild-card" trackers who had high scores could get back into the game in later rounds. This made the competition very thrilling!
