Giambri's is a famous candy shop in Clementon, New Jersey. It has been making delicious candies and chocolates for over 100 years! This family business is known for its special treats, especially lemon sticks. You can find their sweets at their own store and in other shops too.
A Sweet History
Giambri's started a long time ago with James Giambri. He came to the U.S. from Italy in 1900. In 1915, he opened his candy business in Philadelphia. His wife, Mary, and sister, Giovanina, helped him.
Years later, in 1971, James retired. His nephew, Anthony Giambri, Sr., took over the business. Anthony moved the shop to Collingswood, New Jersey. Then, in 1972, he bought the current location in Clementon. He ran the business with his wife, Josephine, and their five sons: Anthony, Joe, Sal, Matt, and Dave.
In 1979, the candy shop had a fire. But the family rebuilt it, and they even added a second floor! Anthony Sr. passed away in 1980. His wife and five sons continued to run the sweet business.
Today, Dave Giambri, one of Anthony Sr.'s sons, runs Giambri's. He works with his wife, Patty, and their three children: Brielle, Sammi, and David. Other family members and staff also help create the tasty treats.
What Makes Giambri's Special?
Giambri's is most famous for its lemon sticks. These are a unique and popular candy! But they make many other traditional sweets too. You can find candy sticks, candy canes, and different kinds of chocolates. They also make special "stem roses" out of candy.
Over the years, Giambri's has added new items to their menu.
- In 1999, they started making gourmet Belgian chocolate-covered pretzels. They also introduced caramel-filled waffles.
- In 2001, they began selling bulk candy. This means you can buy larger amounts of your favorite sweets.
Giambri's is a truly special family business. In 2014, they even won the New Jersey Family Business of the Year Award! This shows how much hard work and dedication the Giambri family puts into their candy shop.
