Giannis Skarimpas (Greek: Γιάννης Σκαρίμπας; September 28, 1893 – January 21, 1984) was a famous Greek writer. He wrote many different things like novels, plays, and poems. He is known for his unique style of writing.
About Giannis Skarimpas
Giannis Skarimpas was born in a small village called Agia Efthymia. This village is close to Amfissa in Greece. He went to school in different cities like Aigio and Patras.
After school, he joined the army for a while. Later, he became the head of the customs office in a town called Eretria. In 1915, he moved to Chalkida. He lived there for most of his life.
His First Writings
Giannis Skarimpas started writing for newspapers. He used a special pen name, which was Kallis Esperinos. This means he didn't use his real name at first.
His first book under his own name came out in 1929. It was a novel called O Kapetan Sourmelis o Stouraitis. It was published in a magazine called Ellinika Grammata (Greek Letters). Giannis Skarimpas passed away in Chalkida in 1984.
