Giuseppina Huguet (born 1871, died 1951) was a talented opera singer from Catalonia, Spain. She was a soprano, meaning she sang the highest female voice parts. Giuseppina performed in operas all over Europe before World War I. Her voice was known for being very clear and beautiful.

Early Life and First Performances
Giuseppina Huguet was born in 1871. Her official name was "Josefina" Huguet. She started her music lessons in Barcelona, Spain, with a teacher named Francisco Bonet. Giuseppina made her first opera performance at the Teatro Liceu in Barcelona. She sang the main role in an opera called Lakmé.
Touring Europe and Beyond
After her successful start, Giuseppina traveled to many countries. She performed in several places, including some countries in South America. She also became very popular in Italy. Her first show at the famous La Scala opera house in Milan was in 1896. There, she sang the part of Ophélie in the opera Hamlet. Giuseppina also had many fans in Russia.
Her Opera Roles
Giuseppina Huguet was able to sing many different kinds of opera roles. She often sang "coloratura" parts. These roles require a singer to perform very fast and fancy musical notes. An example is Rosina in Rossini's The Barber of Seville.
Different Styles of Opera
Giuseppina also performed in "verismo" operas. This style of opera tries to show real-life situations and emotions. She sang the roles of Mimì in Puccini's La Bohème and Cio-Cio-San in Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Her performances even included parts from Wagner's Lohengrin. She sang with the famous tenor Fernando De Lucia in some recordings.

Her Recordings
Giuseppina Huguet did not make a huge number of recordings. Most of her recordings were of songs and group pieces from operas. These were made by the Gramophone Company. This company later became EMI, a very well-known music company.
First Complete Opera Recording
In 1907, Giuseppina sang the role of Nedda in the first full recording of Pagliacci. She performed with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro alla Scala di Milano. Carlo Sabajno was the conductor for this important recording. Some of her old recordings can still be found today on CDs.
