Glenda Baskin Glover is an important American educator. She served as the president of Tennessee State University, a well-known university in the United States. She holds many impressive qualifications. These include a Ph.D (a very high-level doctorate degree), a J.D. (a law degree), and she is a CPA (an expert in accounting and finances).

Early Life and Education

Glenda Glover was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She grew up in the Weaver Road area. She started her college journey at Tennessee State University. There, she studied mathematics and graduated with high honors.

In 1976, she earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. She received this from Clark Atlanta University. Later, in 1990, she completed her doctorate in business. This degree was from George Washington University. She then earned her law degree, a Juris Doctor (J.D.), in 1994. This law degree was from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Her Amazing Career

Glenda Glover became the President of Tennessee State University on January 2, 2013. Before this, she was the Dean of the College of Business at Jackson State University. This university is located in Jackson, Mississippi.

As Dean, she helped the College of Business get important accreditation. She also started the first Ph.D. programs in Business at an HBCU (Historically Black College or University). Dr. Glover is a certified public accountant and a lawyer. She is one of only two African American women in the U.S. to hold all three qualifications: Ph.D., CPA, and J.D.

Before working at Jackson State University, Dr. Glover led the Department of Accounting at Howard University. She also worked as a Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for an engineering company. She was a tax manager at a large utility company. Her early career included working as an accountant for a major CPA firm.

Awards and Special Recognitions

Dr. Glover has been a board member for three large companies. These companies are publicly traded, meaning their shares are bought and sold on stock markets. On each board, she served as the Chair of the Audit Committee or as a financial expert.

She is also the International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Incorporated. This is a very old and respected sorority. She is also a member of its board of directors. Dr. Glover has written over one hundred articles and papers. She is known as one of the nation's top experts on how companies are run, which is called corporate governance.

She belongs to many professional, community, and non-profit groups. She has received many awards and honors for her work. Dr. Glover used to be the chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Jackson (Mississippi) Airport Authority. In 2013, she was named one of the "Top 25 Women in Higher Education." This was a prestigious list by Diverse Issues in Higher Education.
