Glenwood is located in Buffalo County. It is also part of the larger Kearney area. In 2020, about 503 people lived there.

History of Glenwood

Glenwood started as a place called Glenwood Park. A post office was opened there in 1892. A post office is where you can send and receive mail. In 1894, its name was changed to Glenwood. The post office stayed open until 1900. The area was named Glenwood Park because of a local park.

Geography of Glenwood

Glenwood is located in the southern part of Buffalo County. It is just north of Kearney, which is the main city in the county. The center of Glenwood is about 3.4 miles (5.5 km) south of the center of Kearney.

Nebraska Highway 10 goes through the middle of Glenwood. This highway connects Kearney to the south with Pleasanton to the north. Pleasanton is about 15 miles (24 km) away. Nebraska Highway 40 also starts from Glenwood. It goes northwest to Miller, which is about 21 miles (34 km) away.

The United States Census Bureau says that Glenwood covers a total area of about 2.4 square miles (6.22 square kilometers). All of this area is land. There is no water within the CDP.
