Goishi Hiroi facts for kids
Goishi Hiroi, also known as Hiroimono, is a fun Japanese puzzle game. It's a bit like peg solitaire, where you pick up pieces from a board. In this game, you use pegs or stones, often on a Go board. The goal is to pick up all the pieces, one by one.

How to Play Goishi Hiroi
When you start a game of Goishi Hiroi, the pegs or stones are set up in a special pattern on the board.
Picking the First Stone
Sometimes, the game tells you which stone you must pick up first. Other times, you get to choose any stone to start the game.
Moving and Picking Up Stones
After you pick up the first stone, each next stone you remove must follow a rule. You must pick it from the very next spot that has a stone. This spot must be in a straight line, either up and down (vertical) or side to side (horizontal), from the stone you just picked up.
Important Rule: No Going Back
There's a key rule about direction: you cannot turn around and go back the way you came. Each step you take from one stone to the next must either keep going in the same direction, or you can make a sharp turn (a right angle) from your last step. This makes the puzzle tricky and fun!
A Bit of History
These clever puzzles have been around for a long time. People in Japan used them for friendly challenges and games way back in the 14th century. Later, in 1727, a collection of these puzzles was even put into a Japanese puzzle book!
