A Look Back: Grávalos's History
Grávalos has a long and interesting history. It started as a Roman villa, which was like a large country estate during the time of the Roman Empire.
During the Middle Ages, Grávalos was part of a larger area controlled by Arnedo. This continued for many centuries. In 1669, Grávalos became an independent municipality. This meant it could make its own local decisions. However, it still had some ties to the Church in Arnedo.
Today, Grávalos covers an area of about 31.91 square kilometers (12.32 square miles).
Places to See

Parish Church of Santa María de la Antigua
The most important building in Grávalos is the Parish Church of Santa María de la Antigua. This church was built in the 16th century, which makes it very old! It has three main parts inside, called naves. These naves are all different heights, which gives the church a unique look.
