Her Life and Work
Grace Paull was born in 1898 in a place called Cold Brook, New York. She went to high school in Montreal, Canada. Later, she studied art at Utica Free Academy with a teacher named Mabel E. Northrup.
She continued her art education at some famous schools. She spent three years at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. After that, she studied at the Art Students League of New York and Grand Central Art School in New York City.
After finishing art school, Grace Paull designed greeting cards for several years. In 1932, she began her career as a children's book illustrator. An illustrator is someone who draws pictures for books. Grace Paull not only drew pictures but also wrote some of the books herself!
She made her home in Cold Brook, New York. She lived in a special old building called the Cold Brook Feed Mill. Grace Paull passed away in 1990.
