Dudleya greenei is a special type of succulent plant often called Greene's liveforever or Greene's dudleya. It's a rare plant that only grows in one specific place: the Channel Islands of California. You can find it clinging to the cliffs on four of these eight islands.

This unique plant is known for its ability to store water in its thick leaves, which helps it survive in dry, rocky places. It's a true survivor of the California coast!

What Does It Look Like?

Dudleya greenei starts with a small, thick base called a caudex, which is only a few centimeters wide. From this base, it grows beautiful rosettes of fleshy, pointed leaves. These leaves can grow up to 11 centimeters long.

When it's time to bloom, a tall, straight stem called a peduncle shoots up from the plant. This stem can reach up to 40 centimeters high! Both the stem and the leaves can be a mix of green and pink colors, making the plant look very pretty. At the top of the stem, the plant branches out and holds many small, yellowish flowers. These flowers are also fleshy, just like the leaves.
