Gretel's Basketball Journey

Gretel started her sports career playing basketball. She played for the Australian Institute of Sport team in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) during the 2010-2011 season.

She also played for the Logan Thunder team. In 2011, she was even named the Rookie of the Year for the WNBL. Gretel also represented Australia in three junior World Championships. She helped Australia achieve good rankings in these international competitions.

Switching to Netball

In March 2012, Gretel decided to try a new sport: netball! She quickly became a skilled player, focusing on the goal attack and goal shooter positions.

Early Netball Career

In 2013, Gretel joined the Queensland Firebirds team as a replacement player. Later that year, she was chosen for the Australian under 21 netball team. They competed in the 2013 World Youth Netball Championship in Glasgow, Scotland, where Australia finished second.

After that, she joined the New South Wales Swifts team. She made her official debut in the ANZ Championship in 2014.

Returning to the Firebirds

At the end of 2014, Gretel decided to move back home to be closer to her family. She then rejoined the Queensland Firebirds for the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Her talent was noticed, and she was selected for the Australian Diamonds squad in 2018.
