Gretta Louw was born in South Africa. She grew up in Australia. She studied at the University of Western Australia. In 2001, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. This project looks at how artists from different cultures, especially Indigenous artists, use digital tools. Gretta Louw worked with the Warnayaka Art Centre. This center is a Warlpiri Aboriginal Art and Cultural Association in Lajamanu, Northern Territory, Australia. The project showed how artists outside of Europe use digital art. The exhibition was first shown in London in 2016. Later, it was shown in Germany in 2017-2018.
Avatar as Prosthesis
This project explores how digital avatars can help people create art together. It looks at how avatars can make art more inclusive. This means more people can join in, even if they have different abilities. This project took place in Munich from 2016 to 2017.
The Cloud Project
The Cloud is a series of ongoing art tasks. It includes performances, videos, and digital collages. This project looks at how companies market "cloud computing." It makes us think about how we store our digital information online.
Gif Portrait Project
The Gif Portrait project was a new way to create portraits. People could ask Gretta Louw to make an animated digital art portrait of themselves or someone else. By doing this, they helped create a large online artwork. This project reimagined traditional portraits for the digital age. It captured people in a moving, digital format.
