Grevillea amplexans is a special kind of shrub. It is found only in the Mid West region of Western Australia. This means it is endemic to that area, and you won't find it growing naturally anywhere else in the world!
About Grevillea Amplexans
This plant is a spreading shrub. It usually grows to be about 0.5 to 3 metres (2 to 10 ft) tall. Its leaves are simple and can be 8 to 20 millimetres (0.31 to 0.79 in) long and 10 to 20 mm (0.39 to 0.79 in) wide.
Flowers and Fruit
The Grevillea amplexans produces beautiful white or cream-colored flowers. These flowers grow in a cluster, which is called an inflorescence. You can usually see these flowers blooming from July to October. After the flowers, the plant grows smooth, oblong fruits. These fruits are about 10 to 20 mm (0.39 to 0.79 in) long.
Where it Lives
This shrub likes to grow in certain places. You can find it on sandplains and in heathlands. It often grows among smaller trees or other shrubs. It prefers soils that are sandy or have gravel in them.
Different Kinds
Scientists have found that there are three different types, or subspecies, of Grevillea amplexans. They are:
- Grevillea amplexans subsp. adpressa
- Grevillea amplexans subsp. amplexans
- Grevillea amplexans subsp. semivestita
