About the Name
The scientific name for this snake is greyae. It was named after a person called Beatrice Grey. She was the one who first collected a sample of this snake. Scientists use this first sample, called a holotype, to study and describe new species.
Reproduction
Grey's mudsnakes are viviparous. This means that the mother snake gives birth to live young. They do not lay eggs, which is different from many other snakes.
