Sir Guillaume I de Coucy (died 1335) was an important French nobleman. He was known as the Lord of several places, including Coucy, Oisy, La Fère, Marle, and Montmirail. Being a "Lord" meant he was in charge of these lands and the people living there.
About Guillaume I de Coucy
Guillaume was born around the year 1288. His father was Enguerrand V de Coucy, who was also a powerful lord. His mother was Christine de Lindsay. Guillaume followed in his father's footsteps, taking over the family lands and titles.
Family Life
Guillaume I de Coucy married Isabelle. She was the daughter of Guy IV de Chatillon and Marie de Bretagne. Together, Guillaume and Isabelle had several children. Their most well-known child was Enguerrand VI de Coucy. He later became the Lord of Coucy, just like his father.
Guillaume I de Coucy passed away in 1335.
