About Gulgagulganeng
The number of people living in Gulgagulganeng changes often. Sometimes there are about 10 people, and other times up to 60. The community has four main houses. There are also other simple shelters where people live. Some residents here are connected to the Mirima community through family and culture.
Understanding Native Title
The people of Gulgagulganeng are part of an important agreement called the Ord Final Agreement. This agreement helps create partnerships for the future. It involves the Miriuwung Gajerrong people, the Western Australian Government, and local businesses. The goal is to benefit everyone in the East Kimberley region. This agreement helps recognize the traditional rights of Aboriginal people to their land.
How the Community is Run
The Gulgagulganeng community is managed by its own group. This group is called the Gulgagulganeng Aboriginal Corporation. It was officially set up on September 10, 1986. This means the community has its own organization to make decisions.
Planning for the Future
Gulgagulganeng has a special plan for its layout. This plan is called Layout Plan No. 1. It helps decide how the community's land will be used and developed.
