Guthridge, Missouri facts for kids
Guthridge is a small place in the state of Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county, which helps manage things for the area.
A Look Back at Guthridge
Guthridge has an interesting history! It was first known as Guthridge Mills. This name came from a man named James Guthridge. He owned a local mill, which was a building where grain was ground into flour using power from water.
The community of Guthridge Mills was officially started in 1858. Later, in 1879, a post office opened there, also called Guthridges Mills. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It stayed open for many years, finally closing its doors in 1906.
