Guy Speranza was an American singer. He was born on March 12, 1956, and passed away on November 8, 2003. Many people remember him as the first lead singer for the heavy metal band Riot. He sang with Riot from 1975 to 1981.
Guy Speranza's Music Journey
Guy Speranza was the voice on Riot's first three albums. These albums were Rock City (released in 1977), Narita (from 1979), and Fire Down Under (from 1981).
He also performed at the very first Monsters of Rock festival. This big music event took place in 1980. Guy Speranza left the band Riot in 1981.
An Offer from Anthrax
In 1982, a musician named Scott Ian contacted Guy Speranza. Scott Ian wanted Guy to become the lead singer for his band, Anthrax. However, Guy Speranza decided not to join. He said he was finished with working in the music business.
Life After Music
After leaving the music world, Guy Speranza started a new job. He worked as an exterminator in Florida. Sadly, he later became ill with a serious sickness. Guy Speranza passed away on November 8, 2003.
