A Look at Hämeenkoski's Past
Hämeenkoski was first called Koski. It was once part of a larger area known as Lammi. In the early 1400s, Lammi became its own separate church area, or parish.
How Hämeenkoski Got Its Name
Koski was first mentioned as a separate parish in 1410. But in 1540, it became a smaller part of Lammi again. This smaller church area was also known as Etola. In 1870, Koski finally became a separate parish from Lammi once more.
In 1897, a person named Väino Wallin suggested the name Hämeen-Koski. This was to help tell it apart from another place called Koski Tl. In 1995, Koski Hl was officially renamed Hämeenkoski.
Joining with Hollola
In 2016, Hämeenkoski officially joined with the municipality of Hollola. This means it is now part of the larger Hollola area.
