HaTnu'a facts for kids
HaTnu'a (pronounced Hat-noo-ah) is an Israeli political party. Its name means The Movement in Hebrew. It was active from 2012 to 2019.
What HaTnu'a Believed In
HaTnu'a had a few main ideas:
- Social Liberalism: This means the party believed in individual freedoms and social justice. They wanted to make sure everyone had fair chances and help when they needed it.
- Secularism: HaTnu'a supported a government that was separate from religious rules. This meant laws should be made for everyone, no matter their religion.
- Zionism: The party also strongly supported Israel as a homeland for the Jewish people.
How HaTnu'a Started
The party was started in 2012 by a politician named Tzipi Livni. She became its leader. HaTnu'a was formed when Livni and others left another political party called Kadima.
HaTnu'a in the Government
In the 20th Knesset (Israel's parliament), HaTnu'a had 5 seats. This means 5 of its members were elected to help make laws for the country.
HaTnu'a also worked together with other parties:
- They joined with HaAvoda (which means "Labor") and HaTnu'a HaYeruqa (meaning "The Green Movement").
- Together, these parties formed a group called HaMahaneh HaTziyoni (The Zionist Union).
- As part of The Zionist Union, they had a total of 24 seats in the Knesset. This made them a bigger group in parliament.
